Apple releases new iOS, macOS Sierra betas
Apple has posted the fifth iOS 10.1 beta; it’s the second developer beta released this week. The beta is available to registered developers and public beta testers. Apple has also pushed out beta 5 for macOS Sierra 10.12.1.
The developer betas are available at the Apple Developer Center. Non-developers must be registered with Apple's Beta Software Program to obtain it.
Tropical Software releases TopXNotes 1.8.3
Tropical Software has releaseds TopXNotes 1.8.3, an update to their personal information manager for macOS.
The app allows you to create, view, organize, and instantly access your Mac notes with TopXNotes. Version 1.8.3 sports a few new features, performance enhancements and bug fixes. And it keeps your notes synchronized between TopXNotes for Mac and TopXNotes for iOS.

Syncro Soft updates Oxygen XML Editor suite of products
Syncro Soft, the developer of the Oxygen XML suite of products, has released version 18.1 of its XML editing suite of products: Oxygen XML Editor, Author, Developer, Web Author, and WebHelp. The company has also announced the addition of a new Oxygen XML Scripting license, allowing some of the processing provided by Oxygen (such as the extensive DITA validation support) to be integrated in your own scripts.
Although Oxygen XML Editor version 18.1 is a maintenance release that focuses on performance and usability improvements, it also adds a variety of new features. Fourth iOS 10.1 beta released
Apple has released a fourth iOS 10.1 beta to registered developers, as well as the general public. The developer beta is available at the Apple Developer Center. Those already beta testing iOS 10.1 can download the new beta as an over-the-air update. Non-develoers must be registered with Apple's Beta Software Program to obtain it.

ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors is an office suite that combines text, spreadsheet and presentation editors, allowing anyone to create, view and edit documents offline. Being fully compatible with MS Office, the editors support all the popular document formats, including ODF.

Adobe issues security updates for Flash Player plugin
Adobe has posted security updates for its Flash Player plugin that deal with vulnerabilities that could allow a hacker to take control of a targeted computer.
For Mac owners, the updates include Flash Player Desktop Runtime 188.8.131.52, Flash Player Extended Support Release 184.108.40.2062, and Flash Player for Google Chrome 220.127.116.11. The updates can downloaded using either Flash's included update tool or the Adobe website (https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/).

PhatWare Corp., a professional software and application developer, has announced that the entire source code of its multilingual WritePad handwriting recognition engine is now available under GPL v.3 license.
The company says theWritePad Handwriting Recognition Engine (HWRE) is the first fully functional, self-contained handwriting recognition engine to be released as open source. The engine supports most operating systems and includes build scripts for macOS, iOS, Google Android, Microsoft Windows and Windows Mobile, and various distributions of Linux. Quark Software has released the October Update for QuarkXPress 2016, adding macOS Sierra support. It also addresses known issues.

Maintain serves up Cocktail 10.0.1 (Sierra Edition)
Maintain has served up Cocktail 10.0.1 (Sierra Edition), a new edition of Cocktail for users running macOS Sierra 10.12.
It’s a general purpose utility for macOS that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. The new version addresses an issue in which Cocktail may fail to securely empty the trash or delete locked items.
It also resolves a number of other issues discovered in the previous release, miscellaneous bug fixes, improvements and enhancements as well as updated Automator actions and Help files. Finally, Cocktail 10.0.1 (Sierra Edition) comes with an automatic Pilot mode and more.
Cocktail costs $19 for a single user license and available for purchase from the Maintain website (http://www.maintain.se/cocktail). When unregistered, Cocktail runs in demo mode and will expire after the tenth launch.

Free Halloween Fonts Collection adds five new fonts
MacAppware has updated its free Halloween Fonts Collection with five new fonts. This brings the total number of fonts in Halloween Fonts to 45.
All are royalty free fonts in OpenType font format and are cross-platform compatible. You can install and use them in all applications that support fonts.
The Halloween Fonts Collection require macOS 10.6.6 or later and are available at the MacAppware site (http://tinyurl.com/jpwmkra) and the Mac App Store. If downloading them from the Mac App Store, you can find the fonts as Halloween Fonts - Free Commercial Use Holiday Fonts in the Free section of the Graphics & Design category. BatchOutput PDF is ready for macOS Sierra
Zevrix Solutions has released BatchOutput PDF 2.2.23, a compatibility update to its solution to automate PDF printing with watched hot folders on Mac.
Users only need to drop PDF files into hot folders and they’ll be printed automatically using the linked output preset. Version 2.2.23 makes BatchOutput PDF compatible with the macOS Sierra.

Fortuna is new fortune generator for the Mac

According to the folks at SchwanSongs, these aren’t plagiarized lists of old quotes, nor are they completely random sentences of computer-speak; They are something in between.
