Games: Torchlight II

Torchlight II played quite well in both VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop. It was playable even on the lesser machines, and was a pleasure.

Sometimes one sees interesting things in these games that have more to do with the game than the virtualization. At one point in Torchlight’s opening scene, we saw objects become outlines. The clearest example is that you can see the wireframe of the panther as it walks behind the wagon (see arrow in screen shot). This is not about virtualization, but instead is done on purpose by the game so that you can see what’s behind objects that interfere with line of sight. In other words, both products rendered it correctly. In the end, we enjoyed a very playable Torchlight II experience under virtualization.
