DBest Duo speakers great for small devices while you’re on-the-go

DBest (http://www.dbest.co.uk) — you gotta love the company’s name — says its US$70 Rechargeable Bluetooth Duo Mini-Speaker set from — is the world’s smallest Bluetooth hi-fi system. I don’t know if that’s true, but the set — which we’ll just call the Duo — is very portable and very cute. You can use it wired (via a line input) or wirelessly (via Bluetooth) with Macs, iPads, iPhones, iPods and other devices.

iMainGo XP: a hefty case/speaker combo with good sound

Portable Sound Laboratories’ (http://www.imaingo.com) US$119.99 iMainGo XP is a beefy case/speaker combo for the iPad 2 and new iPad. It offers better-than-I-would-have-expected sound, though whether the added heft (three pounds with an iPad enclosed) is worth it is a judgement call you’ll have to make.

The iMainGo XP sports four speakers and an internal, Lithium-ion rechargeable battery that lasts for up to eight hours. The iMainGo X weighs nine ounces and measures 10.2 x 7.6 x 1.5 inches inches. However, its design makes using the iPad in portrait mode practically impossible.

Noise Control 1 is fast, effect noise removal plug-in

By Jay Nelson

NoiseControl 1 from the Plugin Site (http://www.thepluginsite.com) is an US$49.95 plug-in for Photoshop and compatible programs (both Mac and Windows) that’s remarkably effective at reducing image noise while keeping edge details and natural grain. It can also sharpen a noisy image without increasing noise, and even add simulated film grain to an image to make it appear more natural.

ZAGGfolio + new iPad? Who needs an ultrabook?

ZAGG (http://www.ZAGG.com) has updated its US$99.99 ZAGGfolio keyboard accessory for Apple’s new iPad. It’s now available in color, but its functionality is the same as before — and that’s a good thing.

The ZAGGfolio is a thin, multi-function carrying case with a removable Bluetooth keyboard. It provides a built-in stand to hold the new iPad in either portrait or landscape orientation. The ZAGGfolio sports a folio cover and island-style keys that provide shortcuts to access special features with a push of a button.
