MCE announces PowerBook G4 Combo Drive upgrade

MCE Technologies today announced a Combo Drive upgrade for PowerBook G4 400MHz and 500MHz models. The upgrade replaces the original CD-RW or DVD-ROM drive with a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive that burns CD-R and CD-RW at 8x, reads CDs at 24x, and reads DVDs at 8x. The upgrade sells for US$299; customers must ship their PowerBook G4 to have it installed, with a typical turnaround time of one-to-two days.
