Apple Q2 revenue expectations low

A number of analysts are expecting Apple to report weak financial results for the second quarter, which will be announced when the markets close today. Apple is expected to report revenues of US$200 million below original expectations, according to some. Roger Kay, industry analyst for IDC noted that Apple did have a solid first quarter with the introduction of the new iMac. “There was a point where they were making 10,000 a day,” Kay noted.

MPEG-4 LA talks about new licensing fees

As reported yesterday, MPEG LA, the licensing group representing patent holders of the MPEG-4 media format, have released details of proposed new licensing fees which were holding up the release of QuickTime 6 by Apple. “The new licensing arrangement still protects what the rights holders want and give companies who use the technology flexibility to use it in the best possible situations,” Larry Horn, MPEG LA vice president of Licensing told MacMinute.

Icelandic Mac fans to view expo keynote in theater

Fervent Mac fans in Reykjavik, Iceland will be renting out a local movie theater to watch Steve Jobs’ keynote address via satellite from Macworld Expo in New York City tomorrow, according to a report on Wired.
