Mac OS X security update fixes Apple Remote Desktop

Apple today released Security Update 2004-10-27, which provides several Mac OS X security enhancements and fixes for Apple Remote Desktop 1.2.4 (ARD). According to the release notes, the update will prevent an application to be launched behind the ARD loginwindow which will run as root. “If the ARD Administrator application on another system is used to start a GUI application on the client, then the GUI application would run as root behind the loginwindow. This update prevents ARD from launching applications when the loginwindow is active.

Apple today released Security Update 2004-09-16 via the Mac OS X Software Update preference pane. According to the release notes, the update “delivers a number of security enhancements,” is recommended for all Mac users, and includes an updated version of iChat.

Apple revises Mac OS X security update

Apple has posted Security Update 2004-09-07 v1.1, which fixes certain issues introduced with the original version of the software released last week. The updated version, which includes the same security enhancements as Security Update 2004-09-07, corrects the path to the configuration directory in lukemftpd, and fixes Safari (10.3.5 only) to provide compatibility with Web sites that use an old version-checking mechanism.

According to the release notes, the update delivers several security enhancements and includes updated versions of DiskImages, LaunchServices, Safari and Terminal. Apple releases security updates for Panther, Jaguar

Apple today released Security Update 2003-11-19 for both Mac OS X Panther and Jaguar. In the release notes for the Panther version, Apple said the update includes updated OpenSSL and zlib “gzprintf()” function components. Apple said the Jaguar version includes the following updated components: gm4; groff; Mail w/CRAM-MD5 authentication; OpenSSL; Personal File Sharing; QuickTime for Java; and zlib “gzprintf()” function. Apple on Tuesday released Security Update 2003-11-04 for Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. The update addresses a potential vulnerability with the Terminal application in Mac OS X 10.3 and Mac OS X Server 10.3 that could allow unauthorized access to a system. Security Update 2003-11-04 is available via the Mac OS X Software Update preference pane.
