Musings from Dennis : why I gave up collecting comic books
Musings from Dennis : why I gave up collecting comic books

As the new editor/publisher of “Apple World Today,” this is my (mostly) weekly column in which I discuss anything that’s on my mind. Which may or may not include Apple or even technology. This week I’d like to tell you why I gave up collecting comic books (and why...

Surf’s up with WaveCradle for the iPhone

By ‘Doctor’ Dave Greenbaum

While many of us personalize our phones with stylish cases and decals, we leave these works of art simply lying on a desk or bedside table ignoring the balance of form and function they provide.

Fortunately, the US$28.50 WaveCradle (http://www.wavecradle.com/) saves us from iPhone mediocrity. The primary purpose of WaveCradle is to enhance and amplify the audio output of your iPhone without the use of speakers or other extra hardware. The WaveCradle uses natural acoustics to direct the sound to the listener via its curved design.

3M confidential filters bars your Mac screen from prying eyes

Because of the design of the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac, these Macs haven’t been able to attach mobile privacy filters to protect on-screen data — until now. 3M — yep, that 3M, the company that specializes in adhesives through their iconic Scotch Tape brand — has served up Mac Confidential privacy filters (http://macte.ch/BzBWB).

The company is offering three designs of privacy filters specifically for these Macs. They use a clear, adhesive strip to attach a privacy filter. They also protect the Mac screen from dust and dirt.

Kool Tools: Cell Link

The US$54.95 Cellink I (http://usbcelldrive.com) is a portable backup battery, USB charger, micro SD card reader, and data transfer device all in one. It works with iOS devices.

Its 600 mAh rechargeable back up battery restores and extends battery life for mobile devices. For example, it can provide over 90 minutes of continuous talk time and over two days of standby time.
