Review: Xume Quick-Release Adapters

By Erick Vlientinck

From time to time, polarizing, neutral density (ND), or other filters all need to be screwed onto a lens barrel. One common trait of the screw threads on lenses is that they are a pain to work with, making it difficult to avoid cross-threads. Additionally, ND and polarizing filters pose their own positioning problems.

Prizm Stand a great choice for displaying your iOS device

By ‘Doctor’ Dave Greenbaum

Apple’s iOS devices are simple, elegant and just work. However, one flaw of their design is they lack an integrated stand: they simply can’t stand up on their own.

Enter the Prizm Stand (http://www.hubinnovations.com/Products-Prizm_Stand.html), the logical choice for displaying your iOS device. Although these stands are not specifically designed for the iPhone and iPad, I can’t imagine a
better pairing of two products.

Executive Work Station turns the iPad into a ‘semi-desktop’ system

As a person who regularly reviews Mac and iOS products, it’s hard to find something truly different. However, iHome has managed this with the iDM5 Executive Work Station for smartphones and tablets such as the iPhone and iPad.

The Executive Work Station is a combination Bluetooth keyboard, speaker system and USB charging port. This is a combo that I haven’t seen before, and the iDM5 performs all its tasks well.

Perfect Portrait means better portraits in less time

By Jay Nelson

Perfect Portrait 1 (US$99.95) from onOne Software (http://www.ononesoftware.com) is a huge timesaver for portrait photographers. It automatically identifies faces and features, and with a press of a button, eyes become whiter and clearer, teeth become whiter, lips have greater definition, wrinkles are softened, and shine and blemishes are reduced. In addition, color casts can be improved, based on the ethnicity of each face in the photo.
