This weekend Apple opened five new retail stores globally including one in Waterloo, Ontario, and the company’s first location in Alaska.

The Alaska store opened in Anchorage at the 5th Avenue Mall. The other stores opened in Murray, Utah; Cheltenham, Australia; and Florence, Italy. During its recent quarterly earnings call Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer said Apple plans to open 30 new retail stores during the third quarter, which ends in September.

Meanwhile, “9to5Mac” (http://www.9to5mac.com) says Apple is on track to open its priciest retail store ever in Hong Kong in September.
