Survey: 30/70 revenue split is unfair

Arguments to be heard in ‘iPhone prototype’ case

A Silicon Valley judge will hear arguments later this week in a dispute over unsealing records about the criminal investigation into what may have been a prototype iPhone purchased by a blog, reports “CNET” (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-20004673-37.html?tag=mncol).

San Mateo County Judge Clifford Cretan has scheduled a hearing for 9 a.m. on Friday, May 14, in his courtroom in Redwood City, Calif. Cretan previously approved a police request to search the home office of “Gizmodo” editor Jason Chen, which resulted in a hailstorm of criticism.

Apple: the iPhone still leads the Android in market share

The NPD research group recently reported that the market share for Google’s Android platform was now higher than the iPhone’s. Apple disagrees and tells the “Wall Street Journal” (http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2010/05/10/android-vs-the-iphone-the-battle-heats-up/) the info is “limited” and misleading.

Apple points to other figures out recently from IDC indicating that the iPhone has 16.1% of the smart-phone market on a world-wide basis. Those figures put the iPhone well ahead of Android handset makers HTC and Motorola.

Apple patent shows horizontal/vertical docking station

At least iPods, iPhones and iPads work in both vertical and horizontal orientations — and Apple wants you to be able to dock ’em in either position. A patent (number 7,715,187) has appeared at the US Patent & Trademark Office that involves methods and apparatuses for docking a portable device that has a planar like configuration and that operates in multiple orientations.
