Atlona releases new HDMI 1.4 cables

Atlona (http://www.atlona.com) has released their first HDMI 1.4 cables, implementing the “flat” cable design.

New content is being produced daily that will utilize recent advances in AV technology including embedded rich content from the web, and 3D video. With HDMI 1.4, this content is now available for home viewing in home theaters around the world.  3D video in particular is making its way to home viewers by summer of 2010, however; this content requires HDMI 1.4.

DJ software update for iTunes offers Magic Mouse compatibility, more

Algoriddim has released djay 3.1.1, an update of the music software application for Mac and iTunes. The new version offers enhanced support for djay Remote for the iPhone/iPod touch and compatibility with Apple’s Magic Mouse.

In addition, djay 3.1.1 offers compatibility with inertial scrolling for the new MacBook Pro and naive MIDI support for a variety of devices.

djay is available for a free 15-day trial or for purchase from the Algoriddim web site (http://www.djay-software.com). It costs US$49.95. Version 3.1.1 is a free update for registered users.

Multiplied Media Corp. has implemented the Poynt360 name to the augmented reality search feature within the free Poynt local search application for the iPhone. Poynt360 overlays search results with the real-world environment as viewed through the iPhone’s camera, providing the user with an augmented local search experience.

Steam for Mac launch details revealed

Valve says Steam will launch on the Mac platform this Wednesday, May 12. On subsequent Wednesdays, additional collections of Mac titles will become available, each designed to highlight specific functionalities of Steam on the Mac.

The first collection of Mac titles will demonstrate “Steam Play,” which allows customers to purchase a game once and play it on all Steam supported platforms. Portal, in addition to supporting Steam Play, will be the first of Valve’s Source engine based games available on the Mac.
