1Password update for Mac OS X offers improved support for non-English languages

Agile Web Solutions has updated 1Password (http://1password.com), a password manager for Mac OS X, to version 3.2.3. The upgrade offers improved support for non-English languages in 1PasswordAnywhere, an all-purpose mobile solution provided by 1Password that allows you to keep your passwords and data securely available when you’re away from your computer

1Password 3.2.3 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6. It’s a free upgrade for users of version 3.x. For new users the cost is US$39.95 for a single-user license and $69.95 for a family license (five users).

Greg’s bite: the wisdom of the Apple ‘closed’ platform

While Apple supports open source software and even provides powerful program elements, such as WebKit, their tendency is to have a closed system. While some hate that concept, the truth is, Apple has thrived on it lately.  

The late 80’s saw the much more “open” PCs as cheap PCs and Microsoft swamped Apple in the market place. Apple even dabbled with licensing software to Mac clone companies. That experiment was aborted as Apple returned to a solo, closed business model.

Alexander Repty has announcedFolio Case 1.0, an US$5.99 PDF document reader for the iPad. It offers a way to import, organize and read their PDF collections.

Fairlady Media has released Take Wing 1.0, a $1.99 game for the iPhone and iPod touch. It’s a memory and pattern-recognition game.

AT&T offers update on iPhone 4 availability

imageAT&T says it’s on-track to deliver the iPhone 4 to customers who pre-ordered the device on June 15.  And it says it will offer the smartphone to all other customers beginning Tuesday, June 29, when it goes on sale in all AT&T sales channels.

AT&T will send an email when each order has shipped. The company’s retail representatives will begin calling customers this week to let them know their iPhone 4 is available for pick up in store.

Apple sells three million iPads in 80 days

Stand back, folks, there’s no telling how big this thing is going to get. Apple has announced that it sold its three millionth iPad on Monday, just 80 days after its introduction in the US.

“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,” Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a press release. “We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.”
