Mariner Software acquires Narrator

Dejal Systems and Mariner Software have announced the acquisition of Narrator (http://www.dejal.com/narrator/) by Minneapolis-based Mariner Software. Narrator is Mac OS X software that allows the user to read stories out loud using speech synthesis.

With no plans at this time to change the application’s title, the software product will be rereleased under the Mariner brand in the near future. Current registered Narrator users will be able to upgrade to the Mariner-branded version for free.

Adobe Audition coming to the Mac platform

Adobe Audition, the all-in-one professional audio toolset for recording, mixing, editing and mastering, will be coming to the Mac in a future release. A shipping date, pricing or system requirements haven’t been announced for the Mac version of the pro audio editing tool.

However, a beta of the Mac version of Adobe Audition is expected to be available on Adobe Labs this winter. Customers can sign up today to be notified when the beta is available at: http://www.adobe.com/go/audition_labs .

AV360 Mini DisplayPort Converter released for 27-inch iMac

Belkin (http://www.belkin.com) has announced the AV360 Mini DisplayPort Converter for the 27-inch iMac. The US$149.99 converter adapts the signal from an HDMI audio video source, such as a Blu-ray player, Xbox, PS3 or cable box, to a DisplayPort-compatible signal.

The new converter supports high-resolution video and audio, allowing customers to display HD content from external devices on the 27-inch iMac. It arrives later this month.
