Vertigo Software has announced Virus Strike 1.0, an app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It’s an action puzzle game that combines elements of Tetris with Bejeweled and Flight Control. The concept is simple: draw a sloping line and the viruses will roll down the line. Tilt the screen and the viruses will roll down the slopes faster. It unites classic puzzle and physics-based problem solving and more. For a limited time only, Virus Strike 1.0 is free.

Actor Genie Audition 1.0 has been released today for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. The free app is a Hollywood casting resource, which offers the latest news in casting calls and tips/advice from veterans in the TV and film world.

Sulaba has introduced Journal Diary Pro 1.0 for the iPhone and iPod touch. The $4.99 journal lets you record your memories, thoughts, ideas and events with not just written words but with video and voice recording, background picture and emoticon selection for each diary note as well as GPS location info. You can do social buzz like Facebook and Twitter. Journal Diary Pro features a password protected diary with vault and event module with push notification alerts, and more.

MyVijan has unveiled MazeArtPlus for iPad. The $1.99 app is designed to motivate children to solve those mazes while leading one of 12 characters through a maze to its destination. There are five mazes per character with different difficulty levels.

SnapTranslate is a new translation app for the iPhone and iPod touch. It “photographs” foreign language texts and provides a translation quickly. SnapTranslate is offered in two different language packages: Starter ($11.99, English-Spanish) and Premium ($24.99, English, French, Spanish, German, Polish).

Senario is rolling out a $0.99 iPhone game for its Zibits remote control (R/C) robotics series. Created by Senario and ChaYoWo Games, ZidBits Rush is a side scrolling action game where players can choose their own Zibits characters and play against other Zibits.

Electric Pocket has scared up SpookyTones 1.0, a $0.99 Halloween version of its MailTones app. SpookyTones gives iPhone users a collection of distinctive Halloween email alert sounds. Rather than the bland default email alert tone, iPhone users can now pick a new email tone from the scary tones included in SpookyTones.

Alfred Labs has debuted Backtrack Live 1.0, a $2.99 live position tracking and recording app for the iPhone and iPod touch. At launch the app displays the user’s location on a world map, and he or she needs only touch Start Tracking Live to have their position periodically recorded and uploaded. Users can tap the Share button to show their friends and family where they’ve been using email, Twitter, Facebook, or a number of other social sites. All tracks are stored securely on the Backtrack Live web site.

Real Inverse is offering Paper Ninja Halloween, a special free edition of the game Paper Ninja game for the iPhone and iPod touch. The Halloween version is specially designed with the festival in mind, to let players enjoy the thrills of Paper Ninja during the Halloween. It involves swiping your finger across the screen to cut through hordes of aggressive Paper Ninjas dressed in halloween costume.

PBS has announced the beta launch of a new PBS.org (http://www.pbs.org/), featuring local content from member stations, full TV episodes from series and auto-localization features. The launch coincides with the release of PBS for iPad, and the upcoming introduction of the PBS App for the iPhone and iPod touch.  

SlothMedia has announced KosmicMath-Family 1.3 for the iPhone and iPod touch. The $4.99 captivates children to master their math tables. Mayan Software has introduced Sudoku! 1.9 for the iPhone and iPod touch. Sudoku! In the $0.99, users can choose a difficulty and start a sudoku game within seconds. Version 1.9 adds support to the gorgeous Retina Display, offering the sharpest, most vibrant, highest-resolution possible.

Eidac Software has unveiled FaceDialer 1.1, an update to the $0.99 speed dialing app for iOS devices. FaceDialer lets users create speed dial icons for their homescreens to call, sms or mail favorite contacts via one single touch. IFaceDialer 1.1 also adds support for iPod touch devices.

Oren Meiri has rolled out air-Draw 1.1,a $1.99 drawing app for the iPhone 4. Powered by the built-in gyroscope of the Apple tablet, air-Draw monitors motion of the device and converts it to strokes in the drawing. The user moves the iPhone as if it’s a laser-pen, drawing on an imaginary large canvas suspended in the air. Users can save to Photos, email friends, share on Facebook, or tweet.

Blue Lobster Studios has produced Shark Food 1.1.1 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. In the $0.99 game, you’re transformed into a helpless angelfish by a group of angry whales, and your job is to eat your way back up the food chain and return to your life as a voracious Great White Shark. Work your way through lush underwater environments while you try to escape the perils of being at the bottom of the food chain, avoid giant groupers, stinging anemones, dive bombing pelicans and more.
