Bare Bones Software Ships BBEdit 8.7
Now Supports Lua; Enhanced File Groups and Disk Browsers Aid Use
of High-capacity Capability
BEDFORD, Mass. – Aug. 6, 2007 – Bare Bones Software, developer of
leading-edge power tools for Mac OS X, today announced the release and
immediate availability of BBEdit 8.7, a significant update to its
professional strength text editor.
“BBEdit is legendary for working on text files whose size would bring other
products to their knees,” explained Rich Siegel, founder and CEO of Bare
Bones Software, Inc. “The BBEdit 8.7 update includes a range of features
from diverse regions of the customer base, many of which boost the
heavy-lift capacity of this industrial strength HTML and text editor.”
The BBEdit 8.7 update introduces built-in support for the Lua programming
language, brings significant improvements to the File Groups and Disk
Browser workflow features, and powers the use of Finder Smart Folders as
sources for Text Factory and for multi-file search operations.
BBEdit 8.7 can now remember the open documents upon quitting and reopen the
identical documents upon subsequent launch. This new “Reopen documents that
were open at last quit” application preference, when turned on,
automatically also includes remembering disk browsers and FTP/SFTP browsers
which were open at last quit.
Other notable revisions include an all-new Python language module which
supports code folding, significant refinements to FTP/SFTP and Disk Browser
windows, AppleScript improvements, and many others. BBEdit 8.7 also
includes fixes for reported issues and adds several minor enhancements and
other refinements to this award-winning HTML and text editor.
