OS X support coming to SGI InfiniteStorage systems

Silicon Graphics will add Mac OS X support for its SGI InfiniteStorage solutions next month. The products optimize dataflow through production and broadcast facilities by providing file sharing at production speeds with a choice of both network attached storage (NAS) and storage area network (SAN) storage architectures. Broadcast material can be shared at 25x real-time rates and film resolution material can move through the facility as data at real-time rates.

SanDisk expands photo card line

SanDisk has introduced the 2 GB SanDisk Extreme and SanDisk Ultra II CompactFlash cards, the largest capacities available in the company’s line of CompactFlash cards for digital photographers. The cards are targeted mainly at the professional digital camera and prosumer markets where 4 megapixel or higher resolution digital cameras require faster digital filmcards. Each of the new cards features a minimum write speed of 9MB per second and a minimum read speed of 10MB per second.

Epson releases new inkjet and all-in-one

Epson has introduced the US$99 Stylus Photo R200, an inkjet, and the $349 Stylus Photo RX600, a photographic all-in-one device. The former, designed for home printing, sports: six individual ink cartridges; direct CD/DVD printing; USB 1.1 connectivity; resolutions up to 5760 x 1440 optimized dots per inch; text speeds up to 15 pages per minute; and photo speeds as fast as 37 seconds for a 4×6 inch photo and 78 seconds for an 8×10 inch photo.
