When Edith Cowan University’s communications school switched to Mac OS X for its desktop and server hardware system support demands fell, IT manager Steven Doyle reports in a Computerworld article. In 2003 the school of communications and multimedia at the Perth, Australia-based university migrated approximately 280 computers from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther). Also, the school, which has a student population of about 2,500, recently bought 60 Power Mac G5s and has ordered five Xserve G5s and an Xserve RAID storage system.
