MindCad Updates Pyramid for OS X

Austin, TX — September 3, 2004 — MindCad has updated Pyramid, its visual
thinking software for OS X, to version 1.2. New features added include the
ability to link objects to external documents and web sites, the ability to
export OPML for compatibility with many traditional OS X outliners, and an
updated introductory tutorial.

Pyramid, a visually-based outlining and thinking tool, automatically places
connecting lines between related objects on worksheets that grow
dynamically in all four directions.

In his latest “Cult of Mac” column for Wired, Leander Kahney reports on the “Mini iLeader,” a 12-inch GI Joe doll dressed up to look like Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The doll, the brainchild of Danny La and Pam Phillips, is intended to be an emissary for the Mac community, and over the past 18 months has traveled across the United States and even some countries abroad.

Kim Peterson and Brier Dudley of The Seattle Times conducted an interesting Q&A with Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of MSN, about the new MSN music store and the company’s strategy regarding Apple’s iTunes Music Store. Of particular note is Mehdi’s comments on why MSN was not the first online music service, and what influence the success of the iTunes Music Store had on the company’s decision to enter the market. “We definitely would have done this on our own,” says Mehdi.

Gefen announces new HDMI switchers

Gefen today announced two new high definition video switchers offering greater flexibility and support for a wide selection of high definition video displays and sources by accommodating both HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) and DVI (digital visual interface) devices. The ex-tend-it 2×1 and the 4×1 HDMI Switchers connect either two or four high definition video sources to one display. The 2×1 HDMI Switcher is available now for US$249, and the 4×1 HDMI Switcher is expected to begin shipping next month.
