Picture Rescue adds thumbnail previews, more

Prosoft Engineering has released Picture Rescue 1.1, an update of the US$59.95 tool for recovering pictures from corrupt or reformatted media cards or pictures that have been deleted from the media card. New features include: a thumbnail preview of all recoverable images; drag and drop recovery (just select the picture in the Image Recovery Window and drag it directly to a destination folder or desktop); and Secure Card Erase, which lets you securely erase all contents of your camera media card.

DragThing beefs up mail app integration

TLA Systems has updated DragThing, the Dock alternative for Mac OS X (10.2 and later), to version 5.3. The free update adds the ability to display the number of unread messages on the dock icon for Apple’s Mail application. It also adds the same functionality for Entourage, Eudora, Mailsmith, NetNewsWire and PowerMail. DragThing’s contextual menus can also now display application specific commands such as “Play/Pause” for iTunes, and “Get New Mail” for mail apps.

Mireth releases Music Man with USB Flash support

Mireth Technology today announced Music Man, new digital music software that rips from CD, converts between formats, burns to CD or to USB Flash Drive Memory and plays music files, CDs and directly from USB Flash. Music Man runs on Mac OS X. Music Man was developed to provide support for MP3 devices other than Apple’s. Initially supporting MP3 files and MP3 CD, Music Man was called MacMP3CD.
