StarBand satellite Internet service available for the Mac
StarBand, a high-speed, two-way satellite Internet provider, today announced the US nationwide expansion of the StarBand 480 Pro service with Mac, UNIX, Linux, and Windows compatibility. The StarBand 480 Pro provides Internet service with peak download speeds of up to one megabit per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 100 kilobits per second (Kbps).

Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” has surpassed Disney’s “The Lion King” to become the top-grossing animated film ever. Bloomberg reports that “Finding Nemo” brought in US$4.4 million over the weekend, raising its total to $313.1 million in its nine-week run. “The Lion King” grossed $312.9 million, according to Exhibitor Relations, a company that tracks box-office sales.

The new drive reads and writes to 4.7GB DVD-R media at up to 2x speed and 4.7GB DVD-RW media at 1x speed, and reads and writes to 4.7GB single-sided or 9.4GB double-sided DVD-RAM media at up to 2x speed. In addition, the MCE drive writes to standard CD-R media at up to 16x, writes to CD-RW media at up to 8x, reads DVD-ROM discs at up to 8x, and reads standard CD-ROM discs at up to 24x.
