Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” has surpassed Disney’s “The Lion King” to become the top-grossing animated film ever. Bloomberg reports that “Finding Nemo” brought in US$4.4 million over the weekend, raising its total to $313.1 million in its nine-week run. “The Lion King” grossed $312.9 million, according to Exhibitor Relations, a company that tracks box-office sales. “Finding Nemo” also had the biggest weekend opening ever for an animated film with $70.6 million in ticket sales.
