Apple has officially announced the eighth annual Apple Design Awards, which recognize outstanding Mac OS X product innovation and user experience. The awards will be held as part of this year’s World Wide Developer Conference, which takes place in San Jose, California from May 18-23. Seven Apple Design Award winners and seven runners-up will be announced in the following categories: Best Mac OS X Product, Best Mac OS X Student Product, Best Mac OS X User Experience, Best Mac OS X Technology Adoption, Best Mac OS X Use of Open Source, Best Mac OS X Server Solution, and Most Innovative Mac OS X Product. Winners in all categories will receive a 17″ PowerBook G4, a 23″ Cinema HD Display, and a DVI-to-ADC Display Adapter. In addition to the hardware prizes, winners will receive a trophy and the right to use the associated prize logo to market their products. The submission deadline is April 15.
