Macworld Expo New York “will be the largest ever”

Next week’s Macworld Conference & Expo New York will be the largest ever, occupying nearly 100,000 net square feet of exhibit space and featuring 250 exhibitors, IDG World Expo announced today. It’s unclear, however, what criteria IDG is using to determine that the upcoming show will be the largest ever — the 2000 Expo attracted about 400 exhibitors who occupied 280,000 square feet of space. In addition, some heavyweights have opted to forgo the Expo this year, including Adobe, Bare Bones, Corel, Macromedia, and Symantec.

Macromedia announces Flash Communication Server MX

Macromedia today introduced Flash Communication Server MX, which allows developers to easily add communication and collaboration capabilities into their sites and rich Internet applications. The server integrates support for streaming media, real-time collaboration, and multi-way video, audio, and text messaging. Support at the client end is already built into Flash Player 6. Flash Communication Server MX runs only on Windows and is priced at $499 for the Personal Edition and starts at $4,500 for the Professional Edition.
