Apple has delayed the launch of its Xserve RAID until early next year, according to a note on the company’s Web site. “We’ve received an overwhelming thumbs up on our Xserve 1U rack-mount server from customers and reviewers since it started shipping in July and now we’re working hard to deliver Xserve’s companion RAID product in early 2003, not by the end of calendar 2002 as originally announced.” Apple previewed the Xserve RAID, a 3U add-on storage unit that features 14 drive bays, support for 1.68TB of storage, dual RAID controllers, and 2GB Fibre Channel connections, in May along with the debut of the Xserve.
