Other World Computing (OWC) today announced the availability of the PowerLogix G3 1.0GHz ZIF upgrades for PowerMac G3 “Beige,” G3 B&W, and G4 “Yikes” PCI Macs. This easy-to-install upgrade is now available at a 30% lower price — US$139.99.

PowerLogix today announced new 1.6 GHz Single and Dual Processor PowerForce G4 7447A processor upgrade cards. The cards utilize the latest FreeScale PowerPC 7447A and include 512K of on-board L2 cache. As with all PowerForce G4 7447A cards, the new models feature an on-board thermal sensor and real-time thermal monitoring, and support Dynamic Frequency Switching (DFS). PowerLogix today announced the release of CPU Director 2.1, which brings new functionality to PowerForce G4 ‘47 and PowerForce G3 processor upgrades. “The PowerForce G4 ‘47 has unique hardware features that, when combined with the new CPU Director 2.1, result in the ultimate in power management – significantly lower power draw and operating temperature than any competing product.”

PowerLogix has announced two new CPU cards for Power Mac G4s. The first CPU card, the PowerForce G4 ’47, features a 7447A G4 processor running at speeds of up to 1.7 GHz. The second CPU, the PowerForce G4 ’57, features a PowerPC 7457 G4 running at a bus speed of 100MHz and includes 2Mb of L3 cache per CPU. Both cards feature an Independent Power Supply Circuit and VRM Bypass Circuitry (useful for G4 Cube owners). The PowerForce G4 ’47 also features Universal Design, Automatic Clock Speed, and Real Time Temperature Monitoring.

PowerLogix and Other World Computing (OWC) today announced the PowerForce 750GX G3 processor upgrade for original PCI-based Power Macs. It is immediately available for US$239.99. The 1.0GHz PCI 750GX is the latest addition to the award-winning PowerForce G3 processor line and the fastest upgrade option produced for legacy PCI Power Mac models. It operates at 1GHz and includes 1.0MB of L2 cache, also running at 1GHz.

PowerLogix, which offers CPU upgrades for a variety of Macs, has filed a 13-count Federal lawsuit seeking in excess of US$1.5 million in actual damages, statutory damages and punitive damages for what it alleges was a conspiracy by former business partners and competitors to unlawfully appropriate its software, trade secrets and drive it out of business.

PowerLogix today announced a 1.1GHz upgrade for Power Mac G3 Beige and “Blue and White” computers. Available now for US$349, the PowerForce G3 ZIF offers up to fives times the clock speed of original G3 Power Macs, and is compatible with Mac OS 9 and OS X. PowerLogix has also lowered pricing on its G4 CPU upgrades. The single processor PowerForce G4 for Power Mac G4 AGP and Gigabit Ethernet is now priced at $399 for the 1.2GHz chip (formerly $439) and $439 for the 1.4GHz upgrade (formerly $539).

PowerLogix today announced lower pricing on its PowerForce G4 Single and Dual CPU upgrades, which are based on the 7457 PowerPC chip. These upgrades run far cooler that 7455-based upgrades, draws 40% less power, has twice the L2 cache, and higher clock speed, according to the company.

PowerLogix today announced two new CPU upgrade cards based on the IBM PowerPC 750 GX that deliver clock speeds up to 1GHz with a full megabyte of cache also running at 1GHz. The 1GHz Blue Chip G3 Pismo (US$399), which is compatible with all Pismo G3 PowerBooks, is 2 to 2.5 times faster than the clock speed of a stock machine. The 1GHz PowerForce G3 ZIF ($349), which is compatible with the Power Mac G3 Beige, Blue & White, and original PCI Power Mac G4, offers up to four times the performance of the original Power Mac.

PowerLogix today announced the PowerForce G4 1.4GHz upgrade card for the Power Mac G4 Cube. Running at a speed of 1.4GHz, the new CPU card has twice the L2 cache (512K) of the previous 7455-based cards (256K) for additional performance. In addition, the new 7457 draws 40 percent less peak power than the previous chip for “cool and reliable, high-performance operation.” The card includes 2Mb of L3 cache. The upgrade is priced at US$599 and will be shipping in approximately 1-2 weeks.

PowerLogix has announced new PowerForce G4 Dual CPU upgrade cards running at speeds of 1.2GHz (US$799) and 1.4GHz ($1,199). The new cards use the Motorola PowerPC 7457 chip, which draws 40 percent less power than the previous 7455-based cards and offers twice the L2 cache (512K).
