My WWDC predictions

Apple’s 2012 Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off Monday, and there’ll be a keynote at 10 am (Pacific). I’m expecting a big ol’ gang of Apple execs to be on hand for the party. So what will they be celebrating?

“9to5Mac” (http://www.9to5Mac.com) says that, in a first, Apple will update four of their five Mac lines. They’re probably right. I think we’ll see refreshes of the iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and, yes, the Mac Pro. (Sorry, Mac mini, you’ll have to wait).

Here are the latest Apple rumors from the blogosphere:

“ZooGue recently received word from a source close to Apple, who wishes to remain anonymous, that Apple is in fact working on a smaller tablet to compete with the Kindle Fire and other 7″ tablets. For every 10 apps that developers build, roughly seven are for iOS. While Google made some gains in Q1 2012, edging up to over 30% for the first time in a year, Flurry says it believes this is largely due to seasonality, as Apple traditionally experiences a spike in developer support leading up to the holiday season. Apple’s business has more observable seasonality.

Analyst: Next gen iPhone will be LTE-enabled

In a note to clients — as reported by “Barron’s” (http://macte.ch/avNAe) — Jefferies & Company Peter Misek says “the iPhone 5 will be LTE-enabled and that the subsidy reallocation will likely help rather than hurt Apple.”

He thinks the “bulk of subsidies” could go to handsets with LT with the result that “iPhone prices to the consumer could be lower than prices for mid-range Android devices and other handsets,” referring to Google‘s Android operating system for phones. Misek has a Buy rating on shares of Apple, and an US$800 price target.
