Apple appeals court ruling in Kodak case

Apple has appealed a court ruling that dismissed its claim on two patents held by Kodak. In a Wednesday court filing, the company said it was challenging g U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Allan Gropper’s decision to give Kodak partial victory in a lawsuit over ownership of 10 patents, reports “Bloomberg” (www.bloomberg.com).

Apple and Google recently joined rival investor groups hoping to nab Kodak’s patent portfolio. The groups are offering warm-up bids of between $150-$250 million, reports “The Register” (http://macte.ch/Cgu28).

Government docs coming to iTunes in e-book format

Apple and the Government Printing Office have reached a deal to make hundreds of government documents and manuscripts available on iTunes in e-book format, reports “InformationWeek” (http://macte.ch/YfGNY).

The Apple deal is the latest in a string of e-book partnerships that the Government Printing Office — the official federal government printer — has made similar deals since December 2010 with the Google, Barnes & Noble, and smaller companies like OverDrive, Ingram, and ZInio.

TuneLink Home released for iOS, Android devices

New Potato Technologies has introduced the TuneLink Home for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices. It provides a wireless link between the user’s device and home entertainment system, providing hi-fidelity streaming audio and universal infrared remote control functions.

The TuneLink connects audio via analog or digital output to the entertainment system and includes an infrared blaster that broadcasts commands from your device to your media equipment. Its Bluetooth transceiver purportedly operates over ranges of more than 120 feet.
