iOS 6 already on 60% of iPhones

Apple’s newest mobile operating system, iOS 6, has shown unprecedented adoption rates by Apple users, according to a Chitika Insights (www.chitika.com) study on the early adoption rates of iOS 6.

To quantify this study, Chitika Insights took a sample of millions of mobile ad impressions coming out of the Chitika Ad network ranging from Sept. 18 to Oct. 1. The growth rate of iOS 6 was then split by device and compared to total iOS Web usage to illustrate the differences in adoption by the devices.

ComScore: Apple has 34.3% of US smartphone market

ComScore (www.comscore.com), a company that “measures the digital world,” has released data from the comScore MobiLens service, reporting key trends in the U.S. mobile phone industry during the three month average period ending in August.

The study surveyed more than 30,000 U.S. mobile subscribers and found Samsung to be the top handset manufacturer overall with 25.7% market share. Google Android led among smartphone platforms, accounting for 52.6% of smartphone subscribers, while Apple accounted for 34.3%.
