CRQ releases Mac software

CRQ today released a Mac version of its software. The technology, coupled with the CueCat hardware device, allows users to scan barcode-like symbols found in print media, and then access related information over the Web later on by attaching the CueCat to their Mac. The Windows version has 1.4 million users. Both the software and hardware are available free of charge.

Computer displays lag behind other technologies

An interesting article at TheStandard discusses severe lag in the improvement of computer displays, noting that while processor performance tends to double every 18 months, display quality has been improving by just eight percent a year. Indeed, today’s monitors offer similar resolutions as their five-year old predecessors, and physical size has remained stangnant at around 20-inches for more than a decade.
