Handspring offers free backup module with Edge
Purchasers of Handspring’s new Visor Edge in the UK will receive a free back-up module, valued at £35, in a new promotion, as noted by Macworld UK. Handspring offered a similar promotion in North America nearly two months ago, and currently offers a number of other incentives for US customers.

Sonnet has reduced the price of its Tango FireWire/USB PCI combo card in the UK to £75, according to Macworld UK. It’s unknown whether prices for the card will be cut in other regions as well. In the US, the Tango carries a US$129.95 price tag.

Sonnet has posted version 1.0.1 of the driver for its Crescendo 7200 series of upgrades. The update boosts the maximum RAM allowed in the system from 256MB to 1GB and adds support for the company’s Tempo Ultra ATA card. Sonnet is the first company to offer an upgrade for the “non-upgradeabable” Power Mac 7200 series. The PCI-based card is available with either a G3 and G4 processor.

The worldwide economic slowdown has officially hit PDA makers. Following a series of warnings from Palm last month, which cut its fourth-quarter outlook by some 50 percent, rival Handspring has warned that sales this quarter will fall 50 percent from the previous quarter due to weak demand and low prices. Whereas analysts had been expecting Palm to report revenues of about US$120 million, the company says it now expects them to come in at between $60 million and $65 million.
