The folks at Iconfactory have announced that their “Foreman,” Gedeon Maheux, will be appearing on TechTV’s “Call for Help” show on Monday, September 10th. Gedeon will be demonstrating Iconfactory’s IconBuilder Photoshop filter as well as providing tips and tricks for icon authors when designing and creating icons for Mac OS X and Windows XP.

Hewlett-Packard will announce tomorrow that it will be acquiring rival Compaq Computer in a deal valued at US$25 billion, according to reports in the The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. The deal will create a computer conglomerate that will rival industry leader IBM in revenues.

Sockho Software has announced the release of SockhoEasyFind — a Mac OS X native application that allows you to search the Web using six of the most popular search engines simultaneously. In addition, multiple languages are supported, including English, German, Chinese, Danish, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese and Norwegian. An online demo and download links are available from the company’s Web site.

NetObjects Inc., developers of the Web site creation and management tool, has announced that it is ceasing operations and looking to sell off its assets as quickly as possible — as noted by MacNN. The software, which was available for the Macintosh, never really seemed to get a foothold in the competitive Web development market. IBM owns 48% of the company.

Macworld UK notes that PocketNotes 1.0, a project planning outliner for Mac OS X is now shipping. The customizable utility supports multiple fonts, text colours and images and sells for US$20. A 30-day trial version is also available.
