FileMaker discounts for non-profit organizations

FileMaker, Apple’s database software subsidiary, today announced special pricing on its software to non-profit organizations, with savings of up to 40 percent off. Beginning February 1, non-profit organizations will be able to purchase copies of FileMaker Pro 5.5 for US$149 each (a $100 savings) in quantities of 10 or more. Upgrades will also be discounted $50 per copy, to $99.

Media 100 adds After Effects 5.5 support

Media 100 today announced support for Adobe After Effects 5.5 with Media 100 ICE After Effects and Media 100 Final Effects Complete, two Mac OS 9-compatible accelerated effects generation solutions. Media 100 ICE for After Effects is a hardware solution that sells for US$3,749 and includes 50 accelerated plug-in effects, while an Ultra version that sells for $5,995 offers enhanced performance and support for 124 accelerated plug-in effects.

ATI’s RADEON 7500, featured in the new 800MHz Power Mac G4 and available as an option in other configurations, is similar to the company’s Radeon 7000 retail card with some changes: the 7500 is an AGP card instead of PCI, features an ADC connector in place of DVI, and offers superior 3D performance.
