The State of Maine’s US$37 million laptop proposal, which would outfit every seventh- and eight-grade student and teacher in the state with an iBook, is coming under further criticism from conservative activist Mary Adams, reports The Bangor Daily News. In a message titled “Governor Laptop… or Lapflop,” Adams notes that Henrico County in Virginia had to recall all 11,000 iBooks it purchased so as to add security software, after students began abusing the systems. Adams suggests that further preparation should be taken, and questions the selection of Apple systems in general.
