Cardiac surgeon sues Apple over iPhone 4 antenna issues

Another day, another lawsuit. A California cardiac surgeon has filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Apple and service provider AT&T Corp. over an alleged defective antenna in the new iPhone 4, according to the “Boston Herald” (http://macosg.me/2/hn).

Dr. Thomas Gionis claims a design or manufacturing flaw has produced a phone that drops calls and consistently loses service, forcing him to carry two cell phones to stay in contact with the hospital emergency room that he oversees, according to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Boston.

VueScan 8.6.43 for Mac OS X resolves issues with some scanners

Hamrick Software has released Vuescan 8.6.43, a new version of the VueScan software for Mac OS X that’s designed to let users produce better digital images from color snapshots, negatives, slides and documents. The new version resolves issues with some scanners.

The Standard Edition of VueScan costs US$39.95 and the Professional Edition is $79.95 for a single user license. Multi-user licenses are available. A fully functional, trial copy of VueScan is available for download from the Hamrick web site (http://www.hamrick.com).
