Tessera Design has announced World Builder 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch devices. It’s an US$3.99 suite of tools that enables game masters of pen-and-paper role playing games “to build, map, and explore worlds like never before.” You can create locales, non-player characters and maps, as well as customize locale and NPC characteristics.

Bookmakers: iPad’s debut unlikely to outdo that of the iPhone

The odds are stacked against the iPad reaching sales of one million as quickly as the iPhone did, YouWager.com, an online bookmaker says.

The iPhone, which went on sale in June 2007, took 74 days to get to the one million mark. The iPad, a tablet device that debuts on April 3, has a 72 percent probability of taking longer than that, according to YouWager.com, which began taking bets on the topic this week.

iPad ad during the Academy Awards gets mixed reviews

The Brandweek Buzz Report by YouGov (http://www.brandweek.com) is a weekly consumer perception report that analyzes the most talked about brands based on buzz. In evaluating the ads broadcast during the recent Academy Awards, Apple’s iPad ad received mixed reviews.

Apple took the wraps off its first commercial for the iPad. The ad featured a highly syncopated overview of everything the device to the tune of “There Goes My Love” by The Blue Van.
