Boston Globe‘s Haiwatha Bray has written an article profiling Apple’s Jordan Hubbard, who was hired by the company earlier this year after a lengthy campaign by Hubbard to join Apple’s Mac OS X development efforts. Hubbard was one of the founders of the FreeBSD project, which Mac OS X’s Unix underpinnings are partly based on.

Justice antitrust chief Charles A. James responded to skeptical senators on Wednesday concerning the settlement reached in its antitrust case with Microsoft, according to the >Associated Press. James said that the deal complies with previous court rulings and will restore competition that was put in jeopardy by Microsoft’s illegal practices.

ATI plans to introduce its Radeon 8500 and Radeon 7000 Mac Edition graphics cards at Macworld Expo next month, according to the show guide, as noted by The Register. ATI has been shipping its next-generation graphics cards for PCs for more than two months.

Shares of Macromedia are down nearly 30 percent today after the software maker yesterday evening announced that third quarter revenues will fall short by as much as 20 percent this quarter. Macromedia said it expects revenues to come in between US$70 and $75 million, down from estimates of about $85 million, which will force the company to report a loss. Macromedia blamed “tough economic conditions” for the shortfall.
