FiLMic announces log video recording for iPhones

FiLMiC Inc. (www.filmicpro.com), which specializes in high-end mobile video technology, has announced general availability of the “first true logarithmic (Log) recording capability ever for mobile devices.”

This feature will be available as an optional purchase for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. With Log shooting, a cinematographer is able to capture more useful dynamic range from the image and increase the flexibility for post-production editing and color grading.

Study: Tech sector’s diversity problems run deep

The number of new devices connected to the Internet is estimated to reach 21 billion by 2020, but recent reports indicate that the tech sector’s diversity and inclusion practices have failed to meet a commensurate level of innovation.
 
From a 2016 report by Intel and Dalberg Global Development Advisors, almost two-thirds of tech workers are white. The industry could, however, generate an additional $300-$370 billion annually if the racial/ethnic diversity of their workforces reflected that of the national talent pool.

eSports, ‘Let’s Play’ revenues to reach $3.5 Billion by 2021

A new study from Juniper Research (www.juniperresearch.com) has found that a rapid rise in consumption of eSports and streamed games content will drive $3.5 billion in revenues by 2021, up from $1.8 billion in 2017

The report group’s report found that while the subscription model, as seen on platforms such as Twitch, will contribute significant revenues to the industry, it will be advertisers who reap rewards; with almost 90% of eSports and “Let’s Play” viewers also watching ad-supported casual games streams in 2021.

Winclone 6 for Mac released by Twocanoes Software

Twocanoes Software has released Winclone 6, an upgrade to its Boot Camp cloning and migration software for the Mac.

The software lets you clone Windows on a Mac Boot Camp partition. The update features support for migrating Boot Camp to new MacBook Pro models, an updated interface, a new toolbar, in-app purchasing, file-based cloning, read/write mounting of NTFS volumes and support for Windows WIM format for package-based deployments.

Winclone 6 requires macOS 10.11 or higher, Windows 7 64-bit (on supported Mac hardware) or higher including Windows 10, and a Boot Camp partition.
