Consumer spending continues to pick up in May

ChangeWave’s previous three monthly surveys picked up improvements in US consumer spending, and the research group’s latest survey shows another uptick for May.

Importantly, the survey of 2,252 US consumers shows the best overall spending environment in the past year, along with a modest uptick in expectations and confidence. ChangeWave (www.http://changewaveresearch.com) is also seeing improvements for several categories, including travel/vacation, durable goods and consumer electronics.
