macOS 27 Golden Gate brings Visual Intelligence to the Mac. It’s a feature that uses the camera to identify and provide information about objects, text, and places around you.
Enabling Visual Intelligence
- Open System Settings on your Mac.
- Go to the Siri menu and turn Siri on.
- Check that your Siri language matches your system language.
Enable Automatic Visual Look Up
Keyboard Shortcuts (which didn’t seem to work)
Apple says these following keyboard shortcuts work with Visual Intelligence on macOS Golden Gate. However, they didn’t work as promised, at least for me.
- Full Screen or Context: Press Command + Shift + Space to let Siri inspect the active window or entire display.
- Specific Screen Area: Press Command + Shift + 6 and drag the crosshairs over the exact object, image, or text you want to check.
- Screenshot Toolbar: Press Command + Shift + 5 to open the capture toolbar and click the Visual Intelligence option.
I had better luck using these features
- Select an area or window to see pop-out options.
- Click Ask Siri to type or speak questions about what is on your screen.
- Click Image Search to run a Google reverse image search.
- Use it to look up details like food nutrition, landmarks, or products
