As noted by AppleInsider, the Federal Circuit has both affirmed and vacated previous Patent Trial and Review board decisions on a Corephotonics patent lawsuit alleging that Apple stole its dual-camera technology. Which means the dual-camera patent at the core of the lawsuit must be reconsidered.

Corephotonics, an Israeli maker of dual-lens camera technologies for smartphones, filed a lawsuit against Apple in November 2017, alleging that the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus infringe upon four of its patents. The patents relate to dual-lens camera technologies appropriate for smartphones, including optical zoom and a mini telephoto lens assembly.

In October 2018, a  California federal judge ruled that Corephotonics’ complaints “more than simply” alleged that Apple knew about the Israeli startup’s lens technology patents and infringed them in several iPhones. That meant the legal battle could continue.
