“FORTUNE” magazine has released its annual list of the world’s “100 Fastest-Growing Companies.” Apple rises from 21st place on last year’s list to number eight this year.

Describing the list, FORTUNE editors write:  “Fortune’s annual list of high achievers — ranked by growth in revenue, profits, and stock price—is a guide to the most vibrant part of corporate America and beyond. There are a passel of Apple suppliers (and Apple itself), a bevy of precious-metals and energy companies, and plenty of surprises. The list shows how quickly companies can still rise or rebound, even in shaky times, providing a telling reminder of economic resilience.”

Making the top 10 are: Silver Wheaton (Vancouver, BC); Cirrus Logic (Austin, TX); Baidu (Beijing, China); Hollyfrontier (Dallas, TX); HFF (Pittsburgh, PA); Lulumelon Athletica (Vancouver, BC); Northern Oil & Gas (Wayzata, MN); Apple (Cupertino, CA); IPG Photonics (Oxford, MA); and RPC (Atlanta, GA).
