MobileMe is now history, replaced by iCloud. Apple has been urging MobileMe subscribers to make plans to move to iCloud since the latter was announced in October 2011.

MobileMe was Apple’s US$99-per-year suite of Internet apps. It delivered push email, push contacts and push calendars from the MobileMe service in the “cloud” to native applications on the iPhone, iPod touch, Macs and PCs. MobileMe also provided a suite of ad-free web applications that delivered a desktop-like experience through any modern browser. MobileMe apps included Mail, Contacts and Calendar, as well as Gallery for viewing and sharing photos and iDisk for storing and exchanging documents online.

iCloud (http://www.apple.com/icloud), a set of free cloud services, including iTunes in the Cloud, Photo Stream and Documents in the Cloud, that work with your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and PC to automatically and wirelessly store your content and push it to all your devices.

iCloud stores your music, photos, apps, contacts, calendars, documents and more, keeping them up to date across all your devices. When content changes on one device, all your other devices are updated automatically and wirelessly.

The MobileMe site now displays a closed sign with links and info on moving to iCloud. Apple says you only have a “limited time” to migrate or download content from MobileMe.
