My “day job” is doing high end interior painting and Faux Wall Art in Kansas City, Ks. I use Behr Paint and materials exclusively for my painting and wall art.
I go back with Behr many years and, in fact, my first two US patents were licensed to and issued in Behr Process’s name. I was a paid drywall texture consultant, and two of my texture spray devices were of interest to them. While the commercialization of my technology at Behr didn’t happen, I was treated fairly and got my patents back when we parted ways.
That 20-year-old history with Behr disclosed, in my professional opinion, Behr Paint is still the best brand of paint on the market and certainly a better deal than major competitors.
One problem that constantly reoccurs is that customers tend to pick colors that look great on the chip, but are way too dark once the walls are painted. I warn them that they should go lighter, but often we are started on the project when a color change is requested by the customer. Back to Home Depot for another bucket of paint we go.
I often wished there was a better way to visualize what a combination of Behr colors would look like on the wall, instead of seen on a small chip. I already use my iPad to show customers what my Faux Art effects look like in actual applications and that helps me sell my work. (See my personal Faux Art Web site at http://www.GregMills.info). All the projects you see in the slideshow were done with Behr Materials. Links to the new, free “Behr ColorSmart” app — available for the iPad, iPhone or even Android — can be found a http://macte.ch/AIION .
All the Behr colors are available to pick from and you can then go “full screen” to help customers pick likely colors. You can actually call up pictures from your photo library and pick the closest Behr colors from any point in the picture. You can pick from a broad selection of sample rooms and change the colors of the walls, ceiling or trim to any combination of Behr Colors. That way people visualize what they are going to get before you have non-refundable paint tinted at Home Depot.
