A plethora of Apple patents have appeared at the US Patent & Trademark Office. Following is a summary of each.

Patent number D617,334 is for a graphical user interface or a portion thereof. In other words, the iPhone OS interface (now iOS). The inventor is Imran Chaudhri.

Patent number D617,339 is for the ornamental design for an icon of a display screen. The inventors are Bas Ording and Imran Chaudhri.

Aluratek (http://www.aluratek.com) has announced the Brick, a new iPod/iPhone speaker dock with a built-in amplifier. It has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$149.
 
The Brick is a universal iPod docking station, and is compatible with the iPod touch, iPhone and any iPod model with a click wheel. Devices will be charged when docked in the Brick, which can also be used with any MP3 player by utilizing the 3.5mm auxiliary line input. You can also choose to listen to the FM radio through the built-in FM tuner.

WD (http://www.wd.com) has introduced its new My Book Studio LX external hard drive, which offers aFireWire 800 interface and features an aluminum case designed to complements any iMac, Power Mac G5 or MacBook Pro.

The Studio LX sports a customizable e-label that enables users to personalize their media collection and identify critical information about the drive, such as the contents and remaining capacity, without having to boot up their computer and plug in the drive. The My Book Studio LX drives also support USB 2.0.

Boris FX introduces New AAF Transfer Plug-In for Avid Media Composer 5

Boris FX (http://www.borisfx.com) has announced Boris AAF Transfer, a new plug-in designed for the transfer of Apple Final Cut Pro sequences to Avid Media Composer. Boris AAF Transfer uses Avid’s new AMA (Avid Media Access) architecture to transfer Final Cut Pro sequences without the need for transcoding or rewrapping.

Boris AAF Transfer will be available in Q3 2010 for an MSRP of $299 USD or an MSRP of $399 USD when bundled with the Boris XML Transfer plug-in for Adobe After Effects. Boris AAF Transfer will support Apple Final Cut Pro 6 and higher and Avid Media Composer 4 and higher.
