Apple making inroads into enterprise area

Small businesses and large corporations alike are beginning to embrace Apple by supporting and purchasing iPhones, iPads and Macs for their employees and by creating applications for their customers’ Apple devices, according to “CNN Money” (http://money.cnn.com/2010/09/29/technology/apple_enterprise/index.htm?source=yahoo_quote).

In July Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook said that 50% of Fortune 100 companies are already deploying or thinking about using the iPad for corporate use and 80% were supporting the iPhone.

‘iFixiIt’ tears down new Apple TV

The “iFixIt” site has torn down the new Apple TV. You can see the entire thing at http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Apple-TV-2nd-Generation-Teardown/3625/1, but here are some of the highlights:

° The Apple TV is the least expensive iOS device Apple has ever shipped. The set-top box continues the trend of cost-cutting that we saw in the iPad, even sharing several parts with its tablet cousin.

° The big news: “iFixIt” uncovered a Samsung NAND flash chip and found it has a whopping 8GB of flash storage! The A4 processor has 256MB of integrated RAM, the same as the iPad.

Quantum Clockwork has announced Morris 1.0.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. Developers of the US$2.99 have taken a collection of three medieval board games, revamped them for modern usage and are now releasing them in a new product under the name, Morris.

Two MacBook Pro models included in class-action lawsuit against Nvidia

A newly announced settlement in a class-action lawsuit against graphics maker Nvidia has entitled owners of a number of notebook computers, including two of Apple’s MacBook Pro models, to repairs or monetary compensation, reports “AppleInsider” (http://www.appleinsider.com)

Case No. 08-cv-04312-JW relates to Nvidia chips found in some Dell, HP and Apple notebooks sold between 2005 and 2010. For Mac owners, the suit relates to 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models sold between May 2007 and September 2008.
