My first thoughts on the iPad…

Okay, so the iPad is here—and I want one. It has most of the features I said I wanted in such a device. But I still have a few questions.

First off, it has a 9.7-inch screen, close enough to the 10-incher I was hoping for. It will certainly have all the functionality of my iPod touch with enough notebook features to make me wonder if it can replace my 13-inch MacBook Pro. As I’ve mentioned before, I mainly use my laptop when I’m on the road (visiting Mom, going to Macworld, etc.)

Raidon announces GearRAID GR7650-4S-WBS2

Raidon (http://www.raidon.com) is has announced the GearRAID
GR7650-4S-WBS2, a RAID 5, triple interface storage solution in a 1U
rack-mount form factor. It has a suggested manufacturer’s retail
price of US$480.

It features the latest triple interfaces including two FireWire 800
ports, USB 2.0 and eSATA with port multiplication. The GearRAID
GR7650-4S-WBS2 is hot-pluggable and is immediately recognized by Mac
OS X and Windows systems with no extra software needed.

Matrox announces Multiple Graphics eXpansion Module support

Matrox Graphics (http://www.matrox.com), a manufacturer of
specialized graphics solutions, has announced multiple DualHead2Go
and TripleHead2Go Graphics eXpansion Module (GXM) support to drive up
to four or six monitors, respectively, from a single system.

A second GXM can now be connected to the secondary output of a
supported dual monitor graphics card so two DualHead2Go GXMs can
power up to four outputs in 2×2 or 4×1 modes, while two TripleHead2Go
units can be combined to connect six displays to produce either a 3×2
or 6×1 set up.

Apple unveils the iPad

To no one’s great surprise, Apple unveiled a new product at a special
event in San Francisco today: the iPad. Yep, that’s the name Apple is
going with, not the rumored iTablet or iSlate monikers.

Apple says the device is for browsing the web, reading and sending
email, enjoying photos, watching videos, listening to music, playing
games, reading e-books and much more.

lightweight, gaming grade mouse mat. The dual-sided design of the
US$34.99 provides gamers with the choice of a Speed Surface for
