Akvis (http://www.akvis.com) has released Akvis Sketch 8.0, an update
of the software that converts photos to pencil and watercolor
drawings. The new version includes a Quick Preview window designed to
save you time when fine-tuning the settings.

Sketch 8.0 also adds Exif and IPTC data support. Akvis Sketch is
available as a stand-alone application, as well as a plugin to a
photo editor. The plug-in version is compatible with Adobe Photoshop
and Photoshop Elements, Corel Painter, Corel Photo-Paint, and Paint
Shop Pro, ACD FotoCanvas, and Ulead PhotoImpact.

has announced Spell Catcher X 10.3, a new release
of thecollection of writing productivity tools.
Among other things, it provides spell checking
services for more than a dozen languages, and
combines its multilingual spell checking with a
suite of writing productivity tools. Among its

Mozy has announced what it says is the first online backup service
designed for Mac-powered businesses. MozyPro for Mac extends the Mozy
online backup service to the growing numbers of businesses using Mac
desktops, laptops and servers.

Mozy provides automatic backup of critical information at a remote
location, protecting against hard drive failure, computer loss or
theft and natural disaster. MozyPro for Mac builds upon MozyHome for
Mac, the industry’s first online backup service designed for Mac
users.

Southpaw Technology has released version 2.0 of
Tactic
(http://www.southpawtech.com/en/product/index.html),
its digital asset management system for Mac OS X,
Windows and Linux systems.

Luxology, an independent technology company developing 3D content
creation software, has released imageSynth 2, the newest version of
its image processing tool. It offers up to 10 times faster
performance, and is now available in both a standalone version and as
a plug-in for Adobe Creative Suite 4.

The imageSynth software allows users to create a new synthetic image
based on areas of interest that are identified in one or more source
images.
