Luxology, an independent technology company developing 3D content
creation software, has released imageSynth 2, the newest version of
its image processing tool. It offers up to 10 times faster
performance, and is now available in both a standalone version and as
a plug-in for Adobe Creative Suite 4.

The imageSynth software allows users to create a new synthetic image
based on areas of interest that are identified in one or more source
images. imageSynth can handle a range of image subjects, and is
especially useful when working with “noisy” images such as crowds or
beach pebbles, says Brad Peebler, president and co-founder of
Luxology. The royalty-free images that imageSynth creates are
derivations and will tile together seamlessly, making them ideal for
use as backgrounds, brushes or texture maps, he adds.

ImageSynth 2 sports a new algorithm is threaded for use on dual-core
systems. It also offers improved memory management that enables
handling of larger scenes and has new control over chunk size and
orientation

ImageSynth 2 is available now for US$99. Existing imageSynth users
can upgrade for $49. The software works with Adobe Photoshop CS3 or
higher and also includes a new standalone version. For more
