Linux creator switches to Mac – sort of

Linux creator Linus Torvalds is now using a Power Mac G5 as his main desktop. “Torvalds, who initially created Linux for the Intel x86 platform, revealed to the Linux Kernel Mailing List in February during a discussion on kernel size reduction that his main desktop machine no longer featured an x86 processor. Hence, Torvalds said, a patch specific to the x86 platform that he was submitting to the list for consideration was totally untested.” However, Torvalds isn’t using Mac OS X.

Motorola postpones iTunes phone launch

Motorola canceled the unveiling of a new iTunes phone on Thursday after the company got “a last-minute message from a wireless carrier or carriers,” according to the Chicago Tribune. “Motorola had previewed the iTunes phone to the media earlier this week, with the intent of publicly announcing it Thursday… The iTunes phone that was to debut Thursday has a display screen akin to the iPod. It is capable of holding up to 100 songs.

StupidFish Programming has released ShadowClipboard 2.0.3, the latest release of its popular shareware multi clipboard manager for Mac OS X. Version 2.0.3 fixes bugs in display and usability bugs in Advanced mode that were pointed out by users, has minor UI changes, adds the ability to specify the port for Clipboard Sharing and implements a new bug tracking feature. Macworld Expo San Francisco attendance up

IDG World Expo today announced that attendance for January’s Macworld Expo was up slightly from last year’s event. Attendance for the 2005 Macworld Expo in San Francisco was 35,989, compared to 32,409 in 2004. The number of exhibitors also increased to 275 exhibiting companies, compared 255 in 2004.
