Keyspan introduces USB Server

Keyspan this week will introduce its USB Server that connects USB devices to a Mac or PC via a wired or wireless Ethernet-based LAN. The USB Server –- compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.8 and higher — will ship late in the first quarter of this year at a manufacturers suggested retail price of US$129. Similar to a USB print server, the USB Server enables attached USB devices to be used and shared by client computers on a LAN. In addition to printers, the USB Device Server supports other USB devices such as hard drives, scanners and more.

Griffing to debut SightLight FireWire light for iSight

Griffin has also posted details on the SightLight, an add-on light for the iSight Web cam that adds “a warm glow of light that improves your onscreen iChat appearance.” The US$39.99 gadget fits over the iSight and shares its FireWire cable connection. “The SightLight has three settings — Off, On and Auto,” notes Griffin. “When set to the Auto setting, it automatically senses the amount of ambient room light and adjusts its output accordingly. IntelliScanner Collector debuts

The IntelliScanner Collector from Intelli Innovations is debuting today and will be immediately available from the company’s Web site. It’s a packaged solution for automatically organizing movies, music, and books on Mac OS X. Both the Collection software and the Collector barcode reader are included; you just connect the scanner to a USB port and launch the included software. Then you can scan in items and have them automatically added to your personal database, including detailed product information and artwork.

Insider Software today will announce Fontez-Vous, a technology that lets you share founds without a server. It allows any computer to discover, and share the fonts on any other computers that are on the network. It includes a SQL database that you can use to customize and include information specific to your fonts. Fontez-Vous also has cascading sets and multiple libraries, and a preview mode let you view dozens of fonts simultaneously.
